Welcome to Cheer America
Cheer America (a Minnesota Non-Profit Corporation) is an exciting cheerleading and
dance program for children ages 4 to 16. Students learn popular cheers, chants,
jumps, leaps, choreographed pom pom/dance routines, parade marching techniques,
and other skills involved in performances, competitions and school cheerleading
team tryouts. The program also promotes improved coordination and physical fitness,
personal esteem, and working as a cooperative team member with other children on
the cheerleading squad. At the conclusion of the twelve week session, the Cheer
America team has a recital for parents, families, friends, and others. Awards are
given to each child at the recital. Students also have the option to march in parades,
attend special clinics, and participate in national and international competitions
and festivals.
Typically, there is one forty-five minute class per week, for twelve weeks in the
fall, twelve weeks in the winter/spring, and ten weeks in the summer. Classes are
structured by ages, i.e., there is a class for younger students (ages 4 to 8) and
older students (ages 9 to 16). The instructors are highly trained coaches who have
had extensive experience as both a teacher and a cheerleader. Cheer America instructors
also receive ongoing in-service training via the National Cheerleading Association
(NCA), and have access to consultation from a staff clinical psychologist regarding
management of the unique needs of children in each program setting. Instructors
arrive at the class location one-half hour prior to the start of each class, start
and end the classes on time, and remain in the facility until all children have
been picked up by parents. The cost for the class is $7 per week, plus a one-time
registration fee of $5. Check out our
Student/Parent Information Sheet

Cheer America is highly successful in every community where it is presented. The
program is co-sponsored by community education departments, parks and recreation,
youth organizations (YMCA, YWCA, Boys & Girls Clubs), and the Minnesota National
Guard. Cheer America has received the acclaim of children, parents, school officials,
and medical professionals; we even have been recognized in the U.S. Congressional
Record. Cheer America is a proud member of the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association
(MRPA) and the Minnesota Community Education Association (MCEA).
